Alfred Gough and Miles Millar Reflect on Tim Burton and Writing ‘Beetlejuice 2’

By Vasantha

When Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar hired Tim Burton to direct and executive produce their Addams Family spinoff series, they had no idea their collaboration would lead to the Afterlife.

Fans may now relive Burton's Beetlejuice 36 years later courtesy to Gough and Millar's screenplay.

Long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice to 1988 supernatural comedy.

Gough, Millar, and Burton met by fate for their TV and films.

Burton, a talented stop-motion animator, intended to develop an animated version of The Addams Family, but it never happened.

Luckily, Gough and Millar shared Burton's love in the weird, quirky, and overall ooky family, making the Wednesday series possible.

Burton resorted to his new collaborators for one last Beetlejuice sequel because another ghost of his creative past had to be fulfilled.

Miles and I met with Tim every morning in his trailer to go over the day's sequences when we shot Wednesday's first season.

He was generally in his car and gone for the day after shooting, Gough and Millar informed me in a Zoom conversation this week.
