Chiefs' Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown will reportedly miss 2024 regular season

Marquise "Hollywood" Brown may not make his official Kansas City Chiefs debut until the postseason.

The star wide receiver is unlikely to participate in the regular season after undergoing shoulder surgery, ESPN reported Saturday.

Brown underwent surgery for a dislocated shoulder joint and was placed on injured reserve Friday, ruling him out for at least four games.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid stated earlier this week that Brown was "getting close" to being able to play.

However, when speaking with media on Friday, he changed his tune, suggesting Brown's return would be "months" away.

Brown suffered a dislocated sternoclavicular joint during the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10. He has been sidelined ever since.

The two-time defending Super Bowl champions face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The Chiefs have constantly compared Brown's injury to a similar dislocation suffered by then-Kansas City receiver Tyreek Hill in Week 1 of the 2019 season,

which forced him to miss the next four weeks. Their decision not to place Brown on injured reserve when they reduced their roster after training camp indicated that they expected him to return within that time period.

Instead, surgery to fix the shoulder joint may keep Brown out for several months.
