The Cleveland Cavaliers and restricted free agent Isaac Okoro agreed to a three-year, $38 million contract.
– Okoro, 23, was the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and the last restricted free agent on the market.
– His signing comes just over two weeks before training camp, capping a busy summer for Cleveland.
– The Cavaliers also secured contract extensions with Donovan Mitchell (3 years, $150M), Evan Mobley (5 years, $224M), and Jarrett Allen (3 years, $91M).
– Cleveland hired Kenny Atkinson to replace J.B. Bickerstaff as head coach.
– Okoro, who averaged 9.4 points and shot a career-high 39.1% from 3-point range, played 69 games last season, starting 42.
– He will play off the bench behind Mitchell and Max Strus and is considered the team's best perimeter defender.
The Cavaliers aim to build on 99 wins over the past two seasons and reach the second round of the playoffs without LeBron James for the first time since 1993.
