Browns Sign Dallas Cowboys TE Andre Njoku After Bad Injury News

After word leaked that David Njoku would probably miss several games due to an ankle injury, the Cleveland Browns signed a new tight end.

On Tuesday, September 10, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that Cleveland has added 10-year veteran Geoff Swaim to the practice squad. Swaim was previously with the Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals.

Fowler said on X, "#Browns are signing veteran tight end Geoff Swaim to the practice squad, per source." "Insurance for Cleveland's exhausted tight end room."

Throughout his 100 NFL games, Swaim has made 65 starts. Pro Football Reference reports that he has racked up 110 receptions for 846 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The tight end had two of his best seasons as a player: in 2018 with the Cowboys, when he caught 26 passes for 242 yards and one touchdown; and in 2021 with the Titans, when he caught a career-high 31 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns.

Njoku suffered an ankle injury during the Browns' season opener against the Cowboys, and Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported on Monday that he will likely miss a number of games.

It didn't appear good on Sunday night as he hobbled out in a right walking boot, so it's likely that he will miss at least a few games due to the injury, according to Cabot.

In Njoku's absence, Jordan Akins, the Browns' second-string tight end, will likely be the guy up next. Since joining the team in 2023,
