Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Russell Wilson was limited in practice on Thursday afternoon due to a calf issue, throwing a late curveball into their Week 1 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Wilson walked around the team without a helmet and never snapped a picture.
Head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that Wilson's calf tightened and that he is seeing a doctor.
Wilson has been active in recent days and was not on the team's injury report after Wednesday's practice.
The Steelers are taking efforts to prevent his injury from worsening before his regular season start. According to Tomlin, the team doesn't worry about his long-term availability.
Wilson's injury during the Steelers' conditioning test at the outset of training camp limited his participation in team workouts and allowed Justin Fields to challenge him for the starting role.
Wilson missed the team's opener against the Houston Texans but played six series against the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions.
The future Hall of Fame center will start broadcasting on ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown." He will also continue his "New Heights" podcast with Travis.
